2017 | I’ve had my Tory Burch Fleming bag for about two years now. I dream of owning my own Chanel classic double flap and/or Chanel Boy Bag one day, but for now it’s still on my wishlist. It is a pricy bag and putting out $5,000 + on a bag is a major commitment.
As I was searching for another ‘classic’ black bag that has similar criterias as the Chanel Classic and Bog Bay, I came across the Tory Burch Fleming bag. I wanted to start off with a ‘classic’ lower end black bag before jumping into a Chanel. I am not a huge Tory Burch fan, but when I saw the Tory Burch Fleming bag, it screamed classy casual yet sophisticated to me.
I purchased the large size, but it also comes in a smaller size and even mini (which is super cute and can be comparable to the Chanel mini rectangle).
Price: Current retail price is $498 usd + tax (comes in lots of other colors as well!).
Details: It features a single flap magnetic opening. Inside has two front slips and a back zipper pocket. It is all black leather with gold hardware and a detachable tassel. Has a gold chain with leather weaved in between. It has the Tory Burch emblem on the top of the flap that folds nicely with the flap design.
Pros: The bag is a soft buttery leather, has just the right compartments, and the size is just right for me. It’s roomy and can fit a lot of stuff! The chain can be convertible to crossbody or shoulder length. The quilted front design is beautiful as well, which I thinks brings an elegant dimension to the bag.
Cons: The front magnetic closure is hard to close especially when you aren’t able to line it up right away (but when it does close, it is pretty secure). The leather is not as durable, the corners have rubbed off due to normal wear and tear, this hasn’t happened to my Louis Vuitton empriente bags or other leather bags as quickly. I don’t extremely baby my bags, however I do take care of them.
Bottom Line: Overall the bag is sturdy and a true beauty. It’s simple, yet a classic. It holds a lot without putting too much weight on the bag. I would say this bag is a true contender if you are trying to find a comparable bag to the Chanel classic and boy bag.
Verdict: 7/10. I would repurchase this bag only if it is on sale or you are able to find it for a great deal. So, not convinced to purchase the bag at full price, I purchased this bag on ebay for half the price!
Definitely check out the bag at your local shop/ department store prior to purchasing if you are unsure.
