Today’s Sole Saturday are the one and only, Air Jordan 1 ‘Court Lux’ x Maya Moore x Aleali May collaboration. This particular pair was released last month on December 22, 2018 alongside the Jordan 10. I, like many others, do not get to have first dibs on sneakers and certain shoe releases so my reveals/reviews may seem to be late at times, however, I still like to share with you all my thoughts and take on the sole of the Saturday.
Although Nike and many other companies are starting to incorporate a lot of women’s exclusive releases, I feel like they need to move just a tad bit faster. The women consumer in the sneaker world is a lot bigger than they’d probably think. Majority of my sneakers are all GS sizing, which caters to boys section/category, so they can’t really articulate the correct amount of inventory that women are actually buying, but as long as there is progress then that’s something we can’t falter.
Lets get back to business and take a closer look at the Aleali May’s Air Jordan 1. The details were definitely not missed from color – to – design – to – quality. I love almost all things fur and honestly that was the first detail that caught my attention. Then when I found out that it was a removable it definitely sealed the deal and I knew I had to get it for my ever growing shoe collection. The fact that she incorporated her own style with casual street to luxe without being tacky shows for great design and thought process.
A closer look at the Jordan 1 x Aleali May:
Reasoning behind the colorway – Aleali May took inspiration from Maya Moore and her favorite uniform colors throughout her career. The faux fur was Aleali’s take on representing her love and influence of high fashion x street wear. The Air Jordan 1 has suede colorblock with nice premium leather in the inside.
Price: Retails for $160.00 (plus tax) here in the States. However, if unable to grab a pair for retail price at footshops, you can still get a pair at your local consignment shop ( if, available) or online such as Ebay, Stadium Goods, and Stockx.
Overview – The shoe is extremely comfortable. It is made for women’s sizing/feet unlike GS sizing (My normal shoe size is 6.5 so in GS it is a 5Y). For me, the fit is TTS. The quality was not missed and can tell they used premium material, but is also soft and lightweight. After having these in hand, I wished I would of doubled up. Can’t wait for her next release.
Happy Sole Saturday!
With Love, Settle.
