My First Designer Bag

Hi!!! I’m so excited to start sharing my collection with you all and I thought why not start with my first lvoe?

I’m sure you all have read, seen, and heard plenty of reviews about this particular bag and so here it is, my first – luxury – designer handbag is the beloved Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch in Damier Ebene circa 2012. I remember saving up months paycheck to be able to pay for the bag since I was going to take a trip to Portland, Oregon ( I had to take advantage of the fact that it was tax-free). So I carefully managed my finances (a college student at the time) to afford the bag.

I think the Louis Vuitton Eva Clutch (currently in debate as to whether it is forever discontinued or currently just ‘out-of-stock’ at the moment – if you’re lucky you can sometimes catch it on the LV European site) is a great bag as an introduction to the luxury world.  It’s a classic and reasonably priced.

You can wear the bag in three different ways: crossbody, shoulder, and clutch. I love the fact that it is so versatile! You can definitely dress up or down when wearing this bag. Although it looks small and in a somewhat odd trapazoid shape do not let it fool you, this bag can carry a lot.

Personally, the main downfall of this bag is that the crossbody strap (nonadjustable) is definitely not made for short people! I’m super short (4’11”) and the bag runs really low, more low than what I’m used to but don’t let that defer you from purchasing the bag if you get a chance or if it is on your handbag wishlist. I’ve found ways to make it work for me. You can also purchase a chain strap to wear as well for a little more ‘classy evening’ feel (I purchased my gold chain strap from amazon here – there are lots of other color options).

As a shoulder bag: I personally do not like to wear it this way. I think because of my the structure of shoulders or something (LOL), that it doesn’t sit nicely on my shoulders. I also do not like that it sits so close to my underarms.

As a Crossbody: I looooooove crossbody bags and this is my favorite way to wear it. I like that I can turn it from a classy to casual look with ease and it does not look weird. There is a hack where you can do to shorten the strap, which is to pull it through one side and hook it to the other end-ring. It definitely helps with the length!

As a Clutch: I’ve worn Ms. Eva as a clutch many times now, and I like it a lot more than as a shoulder bag.  When I use it as a wristlet it allows me to have two free hands so I can hold on to my drink in one hand and a plate of food/ brochure in the other. Win-win-win?

Dimensions : 25 x 13 x 4 cm

There is wear and tear on the plaque of the bag, but it is expected and doesn’t bother me. I take careful care of my bags, but I don’t baby it to the brim.

All in all for going on 6 years, the quality is superb and I haven’t had any issues with stitching and glazing either.

Verdict: I have no regrets in buying the bag and I would definitely buy it again. If I could, I would want to own this in Monogram as well.
